How to Look Your Best in Your Wedding Photographs

It’s not uncommon for brides to stress about their wedding day photos, especially since they only get one chance to shine. But unfortunately this stress doesn’t help the situation. In fact, it may hinder how you pose and feel on your wedding day.

At Albert Postel, we love to give our clients professional wedding photography tips so they can have the best experience on their wedding day. Whether you are looking for a Los Angeles wedding photographer or one in any other part of the world, these universal pointers will help you look and feel your best no matter where you get married.

Formal Posing

It’s important to know how to pose in formal shots to look your best. Try out the following tips and give them a little practice before your wedding day. Turn your body to the side on a 45 degree angle from the camera. Lift your head slightly and put your weight on your back leg. Stand up straight and keep your shoulders back. This is generally the most flattering for people in photographs.

While the wedding photographer will set up some traditional poses, generally, the candid moments are the ones that bring tears to our eyes. Candids show the reality of emotion and capture genuine moments that are too precious to pass by.

Remember to enjoy your day and try not to stress about perfect posing. The more natural you are the better the photos will come out.

Personal Appearance

Opt for professional makeup application, if possible. It’s not every day that you are photographed for hours in different lights and social situations. Your everyday makeup application may make you look washed out in wedding photos. Professionals know how to play up your nicest features to make you look your absolute best.

Tip: Try out a few makeup artists at least a few weeks before the wedding and take practice pictures. A good wedding makeup artist will be one who is skilled in photography for weddings not just makeup for events.

Oily skin? Facial shine can come through in photographs. Use powders to control it. This also works well for the groom! Assign one of your maids to take makeup duty and give her your powder, lip gloss and any other item you will need throughout the day to stay looking fresh.

Don’t forget to eat and stay hydrated! Skipping meals the day of the wedding will not make you look any smaller in that dress. Refraining from eating or forgetting to drink will be evident in your face and you could lose your glow. Keep some water by you and sip it throughout the day.

Have Fun!

More important than any other tip we could give you—take a deep breath and have fun! Your emotion will come across in your wedding photographs, so the more you enjoy your day, the more you will enjoy your photos!

Take a look at some of our brides and couples who relaxed and enjoyed their wedding day. Their enthusiasm is evident in these lovely candid shots.
